Finding the right partnership is a bit like trying on a glass slipper. You’ll know when it fits. A great writer or editor relationship is not only about writing ability. Perspectives, experience, learning agility, work ethics, and shared values all play a part. And let’s be honest, no one wants to work with a grump.
That’s why I recommend scheduling an informal chat or meeting first.
There are so many written formats that can improve with plain English. Simplifying complexity might not be the easiest thing to do, but it’s the easiest way to win trust.
Who would you trust more? A company that published a lot of documents or web pages but didn’t make it easy for you to understand them? Or, a company that created quality content that gave you the exactly what you needed in a way that makes sense?
Here are some of the formats I can help you with.
- Newsletters and articles
- Technical documentation
- Web pages
- CV, cover letters and job descriptions
Content and copywriting
- Blog posts
- Marketing campaigns
- Training and educational materials
- Evolving brand and editorial guides
- Content guidance and strategy
- Content design / UX writing
- Content curation
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team
Along with standard Office programmes, I can edit or add content directly in Adobe InDesign (annual reports, editorial etc), Illustrator, Photoshop (wireframes, mockups etc), WordPress, or HTML. I’ve used Adobe XD and Marvel Prototyping, and can generally pick up apps, content management systems, and programs fairly quickly. It’s a perk from being a curious lifelong learner.
There’s no one-size-fits-all package for content. Each sector, project and brand has unique needs and challenges.
To give you a ballpark for your budget, here are my rates:
Day rate: £260
Half-day rate: £150
If you need a project rate, I’m happy to chat about your needs and put together a quote.
My rates are in line with ProCopyWriter’s suggested rates for writers in Scotland.
If you’d prefer a fixed-term or monthly contract, I use an umbrella company for contracting, which protects you from IR35 duties. I hold a Basic Disclosure Scotland certificate.
Let’s schedule a no-obligation chat to see what you need and how I can help.
To get started, use the contact form or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and let me a little bit about you, for example, what your company does and what you’re looking for.
I’ll get in touch to schedule our first call, either over the phone or Skype. I usually respond within 24 hours. I’d be happy to meet with you in person if you’re based in Glasgow, Ayr, or Largs.
If we decide to work together, I’ll send along a questionnaire so I can get to know your unique needs and circumstances. We’ll agree to the amount of work, timings, and payment schedule before work starts.
